Taxi Cam

These are some shots I did from through the window of a taxi in Manila one evening. Traffic was at a virtual standstill, and I was happy for it, as I had always found this particular avenue to be fascinating. It is even more so at night than during the day.

Brick vs. Nature

The last time I saw this building was last summer. It was nothing but a two-story cube of vines. Without the leaves on the vines one can see through to the structure beneath (barely).

New Feature of Some of My Recent Work!

Today I was caught totally off guard by the following statement about my work: "Jay has an impressive way of blending model within their surroundings. Within Jay's captures, models don't just inhabit their location, they devour it, becoming part of it." Wow. I'm speechless. Thanks so much to Tye over at Favorite Hunks & Other Things! Mr. Sunshine

Sometimes all the lighting equipment you need is that big ball of fire in the heavens - the sun. In the right place and at the right time of day it can be your best friend. Such was the case one day when I did a shoot for my friend Noel. We walked into this room, saw the great mural on the wall, and waited for the right time to begin shooting there. Here's the best shot from that set!

Marc Mendoza

Sometimes as a photographer you just want to shoot. If you know another photographer, there are times you can usually find him or her wanting to do the same. If that other photographer also likes to spend time in front of the camera, you have a subject as well. Well, it happened that my friend Marc Mendoza and I both had the same day free and we were both itching to do a shoot. We couldn't find anyone who wanted to model for us. It was summer in the Philippines and neither of us wanted to do more urban Manila scenery because it was almost 100 degrees! As Marc is a good photographer and also quite good in front of the camera, I had my subject for the day. Here's the best image I caught of him:
